Jersey Police – SMART Policing
The Brief
Jersey Police approached Humanoid to create a Sim City-inspired animation to promote the newly launched SMART Policing initiative.
The Solution
Humanoid creating isometric maps, buildings, vehicles and animated characters to visually explain how the new setup works.
The Result
The video was shared across several social media channels to update the public on the new scheme.
Humanoid created an isometric animation explaining how Jersey Police plan to update policing methods across the island.
Jersey Police recently introduced their SMART Police project enabling officers to fight crime and protect local communities more efficiently. Humanoid was approached by the force to create a video resembling the Resolutions Centre animation created for Staffordshire Police. To ensure authenticity a virtual location scout was used to identify several locations and landmarks that could be turned into isometric assets.
The explainer video included three map assets: an island, a harbour village and a town centre. The village was designed around Gorey Pier and included a vector version of Mont Orgueil Castle. Surrounding this several residential estates were produced based on different house types found on the island. The third map consisted of the Jersey Police station, Liberty Wharf Shopping Centre, and the Rowley Jewellers Clock Tower found at the island’s capital Saint Helier. Once the map was designed, characters and vehicles were added into the scene and animated to a voiceover.
“From the start we didn’t want this to be a generic isometric map. The aim was to capture the essence of island life and include recognisable landmarks to keep the viewers engaged with the content. Each element was meticulously created from scratch, with many hours spent crafting individual buildings.”
–Chris Gandy, Humanoid’s Creative Director
The completed video was used to inform the public of the new way of working and improve confidence in the force.
