Video News Update: Highways Edition
Hit the road and join us for a taste of our recent work in the highways sector!
Humanoid recently found itself on a completely closed Aston Expressway, on the iconic Spaghetti Junction. We were there to capture ongoing roadworks for Kier Highways. The coverage feature live action footage and timelapse over several shifts, as well as stunning aerial video — all shot to visually showcase the process of waterproofing, testing and resurfacing a section of this well-known and heavily-used part of the road network.
We were also there to capture video highlights at Kier’s Health, Safety & The Environment Week. The event was held at Kier’s Telford depot, and it wasn’t just the grown-ups taking part — local schools were also invited. The kids were kitted out with mini hard hats and viz vests, and they had a great time getting hands-on with the demos — from making environmental bird feeders to ransacking a police car! There was also a staged vehicle collision to explain what actually happens in the event of a crash, from the road closure and cleaning up spillages, right through to the barrier repairs. It was of course a great opportunity for Kier staff and contractors to get together and discuss new ideas and new innovations within the sector. To reflect this, Humanoid captured a medley of vox pop interviews from the staff, delegates and sub-contractors, all of whom gave great feedback on camera.
Once you’ve dealt with the collision and resurfaced the road, then in come WJ Roadmarkings to add the icing to the cake! Over the years we’ve captured a huge archive of footage for WJ’s various video campaigns, which have been used to great effect in their sales and marketing and even helped them win awards. Recently they commissioned us to capture highlights from the opening of their brand new South West depot. This purpose-built depot is the crown jewel of the Group, and represents great strides forward for WJ and the industry. Everyone was in high spirits at this high-brow event, with delegates from across the sector. The event featured talks, numerous kit demonstrations, the cutting of the tape and even a procession of classic cars.
Humanoid then travelled north of the border to shoot video highlights for WJ Scotland’s demonstration day. This event, which also includes talks and kit demonstrations, was set against the stunning backdrop of Stirling University. This was of course perfect for aerial video, and we even had the opportunity to capture a few shots of the Wallace Monument!
