WJ Group Rebrand
The Brief
The WJ Group asked Humanoid to update their video campaign with new company branding. The new logo should replace the original in over 80 shots: on trucks, buildings and staff uniforms.
The Solution
Working through the campaign to meet WJ’s launch deadline for the new branding, we used visual effects to motion track, patch and blend the new logo into shots and replace the videos online.
The Result
WJ’s entire video collection was updated on the deadline: the adjusted clips were live on their website from the morning of the official rebrand. The transition was seamless and invisible.
Humanoid has just completed work on a large-scale post-production visual effects project for our long-time client the WJ Group.
The Group has recently undergone a full rebrand, standardising every branch of the company into a single recognisable identity.
Humanoid has been building a vast video library of footage since 2010, capturing WJ’s wide range of services on location across the UK. WJ launched their new website with video at the forefront to showcase each service visually.
Humanoid used digital VFX to seamlessly replace every single instance of the old WJ logo featured in their promotional videos — from decals on trucks to embroidered work wear!
In total there were over 80 shots to update, featuring hundreds of logos. The work took around three weeks to complete, using perspective matching, texture projection and meticulous frame-by-frame painting techniques usually reserved for Hollywood movies.
“Every logo we’ve worked on presented unique challenges — whether that’s a passing reflection or shadow, moving behind a wire mesh fence or even warping through a glass windscreen. By this point we’ve seen it all! I don’t think we’ve approached any two shots in exactly the same way, and that’s made this a really interesting test of our ability to improvise”
