The Bateman Range
The Brief
LM Bateman asked Humanoid to produce a series of short videos promoting their flagship animal handling products for the agriculture industry.
The Solution
Humanoid captured the hardware in use on location, with carefully choreographed animal handling, edited into a set of short product showcase videos.
The Result
The Bateman team were very impressed with the videos, which they debuted at trade shows and online, with plans for more promo video content to follow.
Humanoid’s latest production featured a first: the mid-shoot delivery of truckload of cattle and a flock of sheep, as the cameras rolled for LM Bateman’s series of product showcase videos.
A market leader in agricultural engineering, LM Bateman’s recent rebrand set the stage for a series of high quality technical demonstrations of their product range in use. Bateman approached Humanoid to develop the videos, providing a list of key features and benefits for each of their leading products: the Tamar Squeeze Cattle Crush and Suporhandler for cattle control, and the Sheep Vet – all advanced systems for immobilising livestock during inspection and veterinary work.
Humanoid developed the sales points into a snappy voiceover script and shot list, which was then captured on location near Bateman’s Leek headquarters, against the backdrop of the Staffordshire Moorlands.
“Consistency was the biggest challenge that day. The cattle quickly churned up the field beneath the forcing pen, so we knew there’d be a limited number of takes.
Combine that with the ever-changing weather and general unpredictability of the animals – it gave us a lot to keep track of!”
–Chris Gandy, Humanoid’s Creative Director
The crew used a combination of video camera cranes and glide rails to capture the equipment in use from a number of different perspectives, drawing attention to its key functions. Assembly was shot from multiple angles in timelapse, and the portable equipment was delivered on camera, in a cameo by the land owner on his tractor.
The resulting footage was cut together with a professional voiceover and music mix, and animated company branding and calls to action were included.
The video was delivered in time for Bateman’s annual county show circuit, and premiered on social media the same day. The promotional video series was very well received – as a British company selling to a global market, Bateman’s product demo videos are a key resource allowing clients to “experience” their products in action.
LM Bateman is planning video releases for their upcoming products, as well as a full company profile video for their homepage.
