The “Expert Explains” Series
The Brief
Staffordshire University asked Humanoid to create a series of short videos presenting TED-style talks on specialist topics from the Uni’s leading academic voices. The talks should appear live, with no supporting footage.
The Solution
We set up and lit a television studio set for the shoot, then captured the lectures on our three-camera setup in a minimal number of takes. Each talk was edited down to a maximum running time of five minutes.
The Result
The University’s marketing team were very pleased with the resulting videos, which proved a popular success. A new website was designed to host the series, and more episodes are in development for future release.
From coping with stress to discovering what Game of Thrones can teach us about leadership…
Staffordshire University recently commissioned Humanoid to produce the first four installments of a web video series. Expert Explains captures the highlights of talks from University professors that provide practical life hacks and solve real world problems.
The talks are concise and impactful, lasting just a few minutes each. The first set of presentations shines a spotlight on how to make a difference through leadership, the future of treatments for diabetes, easy techniques for managing stress, and even the use of computer games to test self-driving cars!
Inspired by the hugely successful TED conferences, Staffs plans to continually expand the series with a wealth of content from experts on a spectrum of subjects, creating a solid platform to connect the experts with a global audience online.
“There’s a lot of extremely interesting and useful knowledge locked away in the heads of professors at our local academic institutions. It’s great to see that Staffs have used the power of video to share this information with the masses in concise bite-sized pieces.”
