Midlands Air Ambulance Awards
The Brief
Midlands Air Ambulance Charity asked Humanoid to create the first ever video nominee profiles for the Recognition Awards at their annual Charity Ball.
The Solution
We created a set of videos with interviewees championing the story of each category’s award-winner in the traditional celebratory awards-night style.
The Result
Every category winner was celebrated with a standing ovation from the crowd of 500 guests and the evening raised a record-breaking 105,000.
Humanoid’s videos took pride of place at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s glittering annual Recognition Awards Charity Ball prize-giving. Specifically produced to personally honour the winner in each category, the eight short video clips made a special night even more memorable.
Midlands Air Ambulance holds their Awards Ceremony every year to help raise the essential funds needed to support their operation. Attended by nominees, celebrity guests and corporate sponsors, the black-tie night is a celebration of the charity, its mission and the huge community who support it.
After Humanoid’s own fundraiser for Midlands Air Ambulance, the charity commissioned us to produce a series of short videos, punctuating the evening’s awards with the background stories and accomplishments of each nominee.
Our camera crew traveled between Midlands Air Ambulance’s airfield base and headquarters to capture interviews on a range of topics — from extreme fundraising, to the sensitive subject of a lost loved one.
A summary of each was edited with photos of the nominees, and each story set to an appropriate, carefully-selected music track. Each video was bookended with specially-created motion graphic titles, to add to the “Awards Night” atmosphere.
The availability of interviewees meant that the video turnaround deadline was tight, and the team delivered each clip ahead of schedule for the 10th July Ball, where they were screened at Edgbaston Stadium, in front of 500 audience members.

The videos prompted an outpouring of celebration for the prizewinners, with every category receiving a standing ovation for the first time in Midlands Air Ambulance history. The night raised a record-breaking £105,011 in donations — enough to fund another 42 life-saving missions.
