Introducing WJ Group
The Brief
The WJ Group asked Humanoid to produce a promotional video campaign for their website. The videos would need to introduce the company and showcase each service that it offers, as well as demonstrating the scope and quality of their operations. Shoots would take place on active highways around the UK.
The Solution
We worked with WJ to organise a series of shoots covering their range of services at sites across the country, and combined carefully staged shots with on-the-fly opportunistic filming. This video archive grew huge, with a company-wide montage edit and individual service videos being frequently updated.
The Result
WJ responded enthusiastically to their promo campaign with a new website designed to place video at the centre of their marketing. A frequent hit at trade shows, WJ has arguably the best video campaign in their UK industry. A number of WJ’s partners have asked Humanoid to produce promo videos of their own.
Humanoid has just completed the first round of promotional video content for an online campaign by the WJ Group.
WJ is the UK’s largest independent road marking contractor, responsible for over 85% of the temporary markings in the country. The Group’s in-house teams design and manufacture everything from their fleet of specially-constructed vehicles to the durable thermoplastic marking materials used on the roads.
Filming took place at the Group’s Stoke-on-Trent headquarters, at its vehicle manufacturing depot in Yorkshire and at the southern depot in Milton Keynes, where a specialist marking division develops and distributes thermoplastic material for screed crews across the UK.
“You wouldn’t think there’d be much involved in putting lines down on a road, but that turned out to be a total misconception. I was astonished at the complexity and precise craftsmanship of WJ’s vehicle builds, as well as the research and development that goes into the manufacturing their materials.
Having grown so far beyond its humble origins, WJ is a truly inspirational success story and it’s great to be working for them. The visual nature of their operations also translates really well onto video — I can’t wait to see what’s next.”
—Martyn Lomax, Humanoid’s Managing Director
The company plan to use the video content on their website to showcase their products and promote their continuing in-house innovation. Further shoots are already booked in, and we suspect full coverage of the company’s services is inevitable. The WJ Group is taking full advantage of the power of video, which is already having a positive response from their clients and contacts.
