NHS COVID-19 Newsreel
The Brief
East of England NHS asked Humanoid to create a montage style video as a lasting record of the work completed throughout the pandemic.
The Solution
We produced a regional COVID-19 thank you film that documented the key milestones, statistics and initiatives that resulted in real patient outcomes.
The Result
The video was played out to staff at a regional development day. Following the screening the video was shared more widely across various social channels.
East of England NHS approached Humanoid to create a short film that documented their regional COVID journey.
The internal communications video was created to be played out at a regional all staff development day. The aim was to tell the story of how NHS/I responded to the first phase of the COVID-19 pandemic. The video needed to detail key elements, such as preparations at Kents Hill Park, PPE, and testing.
Humanoid created an uplifting sequence taking the viewer on a journey through the highs and lows of the incident. The video was driven by a voiceover and used regional imagery supplied by the East of England team to support the narration. The video was complimented by an opening animation, which included a 3D visualisation of a COVID-19 molecule and animated newspaper headlines. To celebrate the contribution and personal sacrifices made by NHS staff the decision was made to close the video with a mosaic of portraits pulling out to reveal the words ‘Thank You’.
The East of England team commented on how the final film captured the right mood, while still creating an emotional impact. The screening was met positively with many delegates struggling to hold back their tears.
“We were really pleased that East of England asked us to support them with this project. We worked closely with the team to make sure we delivered an emotive video that remained sensitive to the subject matter.”
–Chris Gandy, Humanoid’s Creative Director
The video will also be used on the East of England NHS social media to raise awareness of the critical work carried out during the pandemic.
