Alpha Manufacturing Promo
The Brief
Alpha Manufacturing commissioned Humanoid to produce an impactful promo video, demonstrating their end-to-end metal fabrication process.
The Solution
Humanoid combined high-speed footage, action cameras, aerial video, CG animation and visual effects to create Alpha’s all-encompassing video showcase.
The Result
The video premiered at Subcon 2016, where it caught the eye of passers-by and led to a number of sales enquiries. It now fronts Alpha’s online social media.
Humanoid’s ties with the engineering sector continue to grow with a promo video for Alpha Manufacturing: a leading Staffordshire sheet metal design and fabrication company.
Alpha use the latest cutting-edge technology for their metalwork services, including plasma lasers, CNC punching, folding and turning, robotic welding, and a full powder coating plant.
Alpha approached Humanoid to produce their first ever promotional video. The production was part of an ambitious sales and marketing campaign to raise the profile of a company once described as “one of Britain’s best kept secrets”, with a grand launch scheduled for Subcon 2016, the UK’s premier manufacturing show.
The video needed to be cinematic, eye-catching and showcase Alpha’s full range of services, from design through manufacturing to delivery. Humanoid scouted Alpha’s factory and planned a 5-day shoot, to cover each department and capture every machine in action.
“Alpha wanted impact throughout their video, so we approached each sequence as dramatically as possible: mounting cameras on the robotic welders, using high-speed video to capture slow motion and shooting the exterior with our aerial drone.”
–Chris Gandy, Humanoid’s Creative Director
The footage was edited to a fast-paced music track and combined with 3D animated renders of Alpha’s CAD product designs, with seamless VFX transitions and a motion graphic logo. A virtual floor plan of Alpha’s facilities was merged with the aerial video to produce a rapid CG fly-through of the premises.
Alpha’s video debuted at Subcon, where it made a big impression – drawing passers-by to the stand, and raising brand awareness within the industry. It has since been re-released through Alpha’s online social media channels.
