2022 Edited: our year in review
Before we start on our year in review, we’d like to say a massive thank you to all our network. Whether you’re a client, prospect, supplier or a peer. We might have all thought 2022 would be less turbulent than the last two years and, well, we wouldn’t really like to be the judge of that! But, we do know that it would have been far more turbulent without the support of our network. And for that we are very grateful.
Humanoid rank in the UK top 50 video production companies
For the very first time we have entered the EVCOM UK top 50 video production companies which is a measure of success in our sector. We’re one of a handful of Midlands based agencies ranked in the top 50. It is a proud moment to be listed amongst our peers.
Our New Year’s Resolution will definitely be an aim to move up the rankings in 2023!
An amazing 486 minutes of video
Those 486 minutes of video were part of 63 projects that we converted into 162 videos (that includes a mix of live action and animation) for a range of sectors including highways, public sector, energy, construction, healthcare, engineering, higher education and the third sector.
Training videos for Dettol and Reckitt
One of those 162 videos was a five minute training video for Dettol, part of Reckitt Benckiser Group Plc. They commissioned us to create a video to train all their personnel in a short space of time before the Commonwealth Games:
The video-animation mix combines live action, animated infographics, and photography to easily communicate the key messages of hygienic cleaning and hand hygiene.
Aiding student recruitment for the University of Manchester
The majority of our videos were in the Midlands or the North West thanks to our work with the University of Manchester. 2023 saw us work with multiple departments in the University of Manchester including the Business School (AMBS) and Humanities. The cross-departmental working gave us the opportunity to film across campus including at the John Rylands Library. This location was a highlight with an impressive background for a range of interview-led videos.
Creating more than one video for each project is always a part of our strategy. For each project with the University of Manchester, we create an overarching video. We then create a series of shorter ‘halo’ videos that can work across more channels including advertising and landing pages to maximise engagement
Highlights of the year: apps, awards and events
We’ve had many highlights of the year from a short but snappy animated advert for Milwaukee to an end of year roundup for Kier to an award-winning video for Fircroft College. The animation for Milwaukee, the electric tool corporation, is used within their sales journey to explain the features and benefits of their new app.
For Kier, a leading UK construction and infrastructure company, we developed a promotional video for their end of year roundup. It featured on their stand at the Highway Show 2022 alongside smaller slices of evergreen content. We even went as far to film the film with an event highlight piece for Kier at the NEC.
Finally, for Fircroft College, we spent the day creating a showreel video to capture their green and sustainability objectives. Producing a visually impactful video is always easier with beautiful six acre grounds that include orchards, woodlands, ponds, and beehives. All of which helped the College win a Green Gown Award in 2022.
2022: increasingly moving into video strategy
One project that really got our creative juices flowing was a multi-video closed set concept piece for a family card game. We were involved from the outset. That meant we could create a video strategy across every stage of the sales funnel.
The closed set allowed us to get fully creative with concept, equipment and cinematography. And from a one day on-location shoot we created a suite of videos that move a customer from awareness to consideration, to purchase and advocacy. We also maximised the footage into multiple edits. This allowed us to create a product hero video, how to play, call to actions alongside a full game play through. We captured shorter product shot snippets for social media and other marketing tactics.
We’d be happy to talk to anyone about the benefits of a video strategy before planning a suite of videos. Simply drop Martyn an email.
Our favourite video of the year
While it might be the time for Christmas videos, we’d actually pick an advert from September that spoke to us the most. This John Lewis advert is ‘for all life’s moment’s’. A message that resonates at any time of 2022.
